A preproduction run of TMK-GF threaded-joint casing pipes has been issued at the Taganrog Metallurgical Works
In pipe production unit № 2 of the Taganrog Metallurgical Works, operating within the structure of TMK, an initial batch of casing pipes of resistance group N80 with the new highly hermetic TMK-GF threaded joint has been issued for OJSC Gazprom. A characteristic feature of this thread is its unique profile, ensuring a high level of resistance against bending, which enables the given thread to be successfully used in horizontal drilling conditions. For the first time, TMK-GF threaded joints are to be used in the complex conditions of a gas field. According to Gazprom’s order, this batch contains pipes with a diameter of 168mm. An entire range of similarly sized rolled metal pipes with highly hermetic threads is presently being developed at TMK. The ability to issue pipes of international standard with improved operational features is the result of having implemented a series of large TMK investment projects at TAGMET. The production of pipes with TMK-GF threads will allow OJSC TAGMET to increase the output volume of this important import-substituting product.
