TMK has been successfully qualified by Sakhalin Energy to supply line pipe for hydrocarbon transportation from the Sakhalin-2 project. TMK’s Volzhsky Pipe Plant was vetted to supply its pipes to onshore and subsea oil and gas pipelines.
TMK plants are also capable of supplying its partners with high-tech large-diameter pipes that are resistant to deformation and low temperatures, which is particularly relevant in Sakhalin’s climate and seismic conditions.
“TMK’s high-tech solutions have been successfully used for several years in hydrocarbon production on the Russian shelf, in projects which previously relied on pipe imports. We have already delivered over 1,200 tonnes of OCTG to Sakhalin-2, with over 80% of these shipments represented by premium casing with TMK UP high-strength threaded connections. We are ready to expand our participation in the project and start supplying line pipe upon request from our partners,” said Sergey Chikalov, TMK’s Deputy CEO for Technological Development and Technical Sales.
In 2014, Sakhalin Energy invited TMK to collaborate on premium casing, with the two companies signing a memorandum of understanding and teaming up to certify TMK’s premium tubular products to international standards. The first batches of TMK products for the Sakhalin-2 project were delivered in March 2017. Since 2018, when the first casing size was certified to international standards, the Company has been supplying premium casing with TMK UP PF threaded connections. Volzhsky Pipe Plant will produce the premium tubular products for Sakhalin Energy. The companies continue their successful cooperation in this area, currently completing the certification of premium pipes in other sizes.
