On September 29, on the sidelines of Sakhalin Oil & Gas 2021 Far Eastern Energy Forum, TMK and Sakhalin Energy signed an addendum to the long-term contract for the supply of pipe and tubular products.
The addendum expands the range of high-tech pipe and tubular products supplied for the Sakhalin-2 project and boosts the share of domestic products used in offshore development. The expanded range includes new sizes of casing pipes with TMK UP premium threaded connections approved for use in the Sakhalin-2 project.
“TMK’s high-tech products have proven to be successful solutions at offshore fields across Russian regions. We have been supplying premium pipes with innovative threaded connections for the Sakhalin-2 project since 2018. The new agreement will enable us to expand the application of advanced domestic products in developing the Sakhalin shelf, as well as strengthen strategic cooperation with our partners. This was made possible by close collaboration on pipe certification between the teams of TMK, Sakhalin Energy and Shell,” said Andrey Pushkaryov, Director for Integrated Services and Sales of Premium Pipes.
“The addendum that we signed is yet another step towards bolstering the positive cooperation between our companies and an invaluable contribution to boosting the local content in the construction of wells on a continental shelf. The document confirms that we are taking the task of implementing the import substitution policy in the Russian Federation most seriously,” said Timur Gafarov, Sakhalin Energy’s Technical Director.
TMK and Sakhalin Energy have been cooperating since 2014, when they signed a memorandum of understanding and commenced joint efforts to certify TMK’s premium pipe and tubular products to international standards. The first batches of TMK products for the Sakhalin-2 project were delivered in March 2017. Since 2018, when the first casing size was certified to international standards, the Company has been supplying premium casing with TMK UP PF threaded connections. TMK’s Volzhsky Pipe Plant will produce the premium pipe and tubular products for Sakhalin Energy.
