“Production as Art”, a theatrical performance created to celebrate TMK’s 20th anniversary, has won silver at the Bea World Festival, an International Festival of Events and Live Communication. The project ranked second in the B2I (Business to Internal) category, dedicated to corporate events for internal audiences.
The festival constitutes an essential networking event for the international event community. Held online for the second year running, the contest brought together participants from 27 countries. The jury panel included communication executives of major global companies and organizations. Production as Art was the only Russian project to be shortlisted in three categories at a time.
The performance was staged by Russian director Vasily Barkhatov from May to October 2021, at operating shops of Volzhsky, Seversky, Sinarsky, Pervouralsk, and Chelyabinsk pipe plants, as well as Taganrog Metallurgical Plant. In total, the performance gathered about 18 thousand employees and guests.
The performance comprises a large-scale multimedia show, integrating live acting with graphic photo and video projections on several screens, as well as lighting and an original score. The play is based on a parable that incorporates the myths and legends of different peoples around the world, offering a metaphorical account of the history of metallurgy. The show is tailored to each production facility, and the graphic design is supplemented with plant- and city-specific elements.
Igor Korytko, CEO of TMK, said: “To mark the 20th anniversary of TMK this year, we organized a number of large-scale events to communicate the Company’s shared values – openness, continuous development and impeccable quality – to the entire team. It was also important to instill pride in employees for their profession and unite teams working in different regions of the country. The theatrical performance accomplished this superbly: colleagues directly associated themselves with the storyline and saw reflected in the piece the importance and responsibility of their work as well as their contribution to common goals. It was especially gratifying to witness the participation of employees from enterprises that joined TMK more recently – in 2021.”
