TMK’s Chelyabinsk Pipe Plant has completed phase two of a project to install and upgrade gas cleaning equipment. The company commissioned a unit to treat 50 thousand m3 of air per hour, with treatment efficiency up to 99%.
The unit is installed in the plasma-cutting area of the shop producing seamless pipe, which is used in the machine building and oil and gas industries, as well as by other TMK companies cooperating between each other to make their products. The unit features 40 filter membrane units and consists of a hopper, service floor, main and backup fans, and a single control panel.
Valentin Tazetdinov, Chelyabinsk Pipe Plant Managing Director, said: “Chelyabinsk Pipe Plant is pursuing a comprehensive approach to environmental projects and reducing potential environmental footprint. The company is implementing aspiration systems using the best available technologies under the Clean Air federal project. Chelyabinsk Pipe Plant already operates two new gas cleaning units, with two more to be started by the end of 2024. A total of more than RUB 180 million will be invested in the project to upgrade gas cleaning equipment.”
Chelyabinsk Pipe Plant was one of the first industrial companies in Chelyabinsk to propose installing and upgrading gas cleaning equipment to remove suspended particles, dust and gas-air mixtures. The upgrade project is being implemented under a quadripartite agreement signed by the company with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation, Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources and the Government of the Chelyabinsk Region.
